Rare Board Games is a passionate project dedicated to bringing you the greatest board games in the world. This business was first started because of my need to provide for my newborn daughter back in early 2009.

How it Began

Settlers of Catan was the kindling that ignited my passion for board games.

When I was in my early 20’s, one of my good friends introduced me to Settlers of Catan. I was hooked! Settlers of Catan was the kindling that ignited my passion for board games.  Now that has spread to many more board games including Puerto Rico, Killer Bunnies, Risk, Axis and Allies, Heroscape, Samurai Swords, Stratego, Diplomacy, and more.

The Back Story

Back in April of 2009 as a young married father with a new baby on the way, I needed a way to provide some extra income. I first looked to Ebay and started selling anything that I could find.  This process was really time consuming, and sometimes dealt with products that weren’t so exciting.

Then a light bulb went on “I love board games, lets see what games I can sell?”. The competition for selling board games online was fierce. That’s why I was always looking for the rare board game or accessory that nobody was selling. It first started with a used 3rd Edition Settlers of Catan that I posted on Ebay.  When it sold for more than I expected, surprised, I knew i was onto something.
